THE wonderfully uplifting story of nine year-old Lily Barber and her sister Eva, six, and what happened when their mum fell ill while driving their car gladdens the heart.
As Mum Claire lapsed into unconsciousness on the East Lancs Road near Boothstown, Lily rang 999 and calmly told the operator about the situation and their location.
Claire had taught her two daughters about dialling the emergency services, and how to speak up for themselves. She’s now well and the police have given the girls a bravery award. It’s a great example of positive parenting, and of families at their best.
