NANCY McCall embodied everything that was best about the National Health Service.
The former head of Bolton’s midwifery services has died at 86. She leaves behind, not just fond memories of a lovely woman, but also appreciation of a remarkable figurehead who always led by example.
She helped oversee the new maternity facilities at what is now the Royal Bolton Hospital, taking forward the practical caring and midwifery skills honed over years.
She was inspirational to all who met her or worked with her and I’m sure her loving family know exactly how revered, admired and liked she really was.
