THE latest launch programme for the new Strictly Come Dancing series hit our screens with the usual mixture of sequins, spray tan and suspect celebrities.
There were one or two real celebs in the line-up including singers Anastasia and Will Young, Olympic long-jumper Greg Rutherford and Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph as well as the usual sprinkling of soap stars and BBC TV presenters.
This is the progr-amme where they actually pair up the celebs and the professional dancers and your sympathies are all with the pros. Oddly, ex-Cabinet minister Ed Balls is a contestant although The smart money is on ex-Cabinet minister Ed Balls going in the first week or so.
Sports host Ore Oduba looked one of the better celebs along with Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty but criminal barrister Judge (Robert) Rinder and EastEnders’ actress Tameka Empson looked like being the most fun. There are a couple of glamorous new professionals, too, so plenty to entertain over the coming months. That’s Saturday night telly sorted!
