THE main roads around Astley Bridge, Bromley Cross and Harwood are currently alive with the sight of large red poppies.
Local councillors have spearheaded the excellent campaign in conjunction with the Royal British Legion to put the £5 poppies on lampposts around these local areas.
It’s all in time for Remembrance Day on November 13 and a way of both raising money for ex-service personnel and reminding us all of the ultimate sacrifice of those who died in wartime so we can enjoy peace.
Congratulations to all concerned – this timely vista of remembrance brings an important richness to our communities.
