REALITY shows tend to throw up unlikely winners and the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing was no different.

The glitterball was won at the weekend by TV presenter Ore Oduba with professional partner Joanne Clifton. While there is absolutely no doubt Ore proved himself to be a spectacular dancer, he probably wasn’t the best celebrity dancer in the final.

Actor Danny Mac and former pop star Louise Redknapp were also finalists and few people would argue that Danny was good enough to pass as a professional dancer.

However, Ore – who had never danced before – had, as reality shows like to phrase it, the better “journey”, the better back-story. So he was more popular with viewers.

This is probably entirely fair as he really did come from nowhere, he was also in the dance-off a couple of times and often emotional. His win endorses once more that viewers love an underdog but it will be interesting to see now who uses the experience best. The safe bet is Danny Mac.
