THE debate over whether wheelchairs should take precedence over buggies on buses has now gone to the Supreme Court.
The ruling is that bus drivers should try to shame able-bodied passengers out of the wheelchair space. This is the culmination of a five-year legal fight by a disabled man who couldn’t travel on a bus because a mother refused to move her buggy.
The space is actually designated for wheelchairs. Buggies do fold up so you might think problem solved. Plainly, some people don’t see this.
The reality, though, is that buses really need to ensure enough space for both.
