THE Bolton Lions do a remarkable job of helping some of the town’s most underprivileged families.

They are currently celebrating 100 years of existence in the town, and

I know from personal involvement for many years on the Caring Christmas Appeal that they’re dedicated individuals with a great sense of community responsibility.

Their special anniversary has attracted the support of another first-class Bolton organisation: Smithills Band. They’re putting on what promises to be a very entertaining concert for the Lions at the Victoria Hall on Saturday, April 8.

“Smithills in Hollywood” includes everything from the Star Wars’ theme to Mary Poppins, Jurassic Park, Braveheart and West Side Story in a wonderful programme to lift the spirits.

Tickets are only £6 each, £5 for concessions, from Smithills School main reception, the Victoria Hall box-office and Jeff James’ hairdressers on Blackburn Road.

Treat yourself to this excellent night in an excellent cause.
