THERE’S nothing more than most of us enjoy than a tale of comeuppance.

The bad guy – or just the one you don’t like – doesn’t win, doesn’t get the girl and ends up as the loser. This week, there were two of these gloriously enjoyable cases.

One revolved around career criminal John Calvert who certainly picked the wrong man when he decided to break into the home of professional rugby player, Bradford Bull’s prop John Magrin.

The 16-stone sportsman confronted the burglar, a tussle ensued and, predictably, Calvert came off worst. He was also jailed for three years with the judge recognising his “misfortune” in selecting his victim so very badly.

The other related to a rogue landlord who turned up at court in his £200,000 white Ferrari 458 Spider which he parked on the pavement outside. Police insisted it was unroadworthy and uninsured, confiscated it and then crushed it. Karma.
