WHAT a fantastic night at the Midnight Memories Walk on Saturday
The 1,200 walkers of all ages and types (including a fair number of dogs sporting LED lights) gathered for Bolton Hospice’s annual event.
The eight-mile walk, starting and finishing in Victoria Square and going along Chorley New Road, proved several things to me.
One was that we totally underestimate the goodwill of people – from walkers and the many supporters who stayed up to cheer on those taking part to the excellent Hospice team who organised it, the marshals who kept everyone safe and happy, the police officers who got into the spirit of the event and the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Roger Heyes, who stayed up gallantly until the early hours to hand out individual medals and congratulations.
The other is the difference that people can make. The Hospice is on course for £104,000 as a result. Just fabulous!
