OVER just one summer, Bolton has had to find more than £40,000 to clean up areas where travellers have made their temporary homes.
These have taken place across the borough, some areas suffering the same problem more than once, with residents deprived access to parkland, playing fields and even car parks.
Now, at one site, Hulton Lane playing fields, fencing is being built to try to prevent travellers from parking there again. Surely the time has come for a change in the law moving them on? A much more immediate response is needed so that police can act straight away.
