IT’S no surprise that many youngsters around the world idolise Bear Grylls.

The 43 year-old former SAS reservist and survival instructor, who broke his back in a parachuting accident and climbed Everest 18 months later, is well-known for his inspiring TV programmes and books.

Now, the father of three says you can’t “strip risk out of kids’ lives but can empower them by explaining that life is full of risks.

His message to his own is to respect their mother “be humble in your dealings with people Go for your dreams, have courage and don’t give up.” Definitely a hero.
