WE may be going away from the seasons that produce copious flowers but it has been nice to see Bolton bloom during the past few months.

As well as the floral boxes that have appeared on roads around Astley Bridge and Bromley Cross particularly thanks to local councillors and residents, Breightmet has been enjoying a return to its origins as a “bright meadow.”

Cornflowers and daisies have been springing up around its roads, thanks to funds from the neighbourhood’s area forum, and it does make a difference.

Nature has fantastic beauty to share if we give it a chance, and flowers and greenery do have a therapeutic effect on us all. It’s also a great way, too, to combat litter and gets people proud of their area and more prepared to keep it looking nice.
