WHEN you hear people speak about “ladies who lunch” there’s often a certain derogatory element in these words.

It suggests that these are vacuous people who have nothing better to do that sit around and gossip while they eat.

Yet, the practicality of ladies who lunch in this town and elsewhere is of a group of women working hard to organise an event to raise funds for an important charity or other worthy cause.

It takes time, effort and a large amount of energy and commitment.

For ladies who lunch please substitute “ladies who care” and you’re nearer the truth.
