THE thorny subject of letting children have wine with a meal is particularly highlighted now.
Many parents allow youngsters to have a glass with their Christmas meal although many others believe that giving children any alcohol at all is a bad thing.
A report from University College London shows that those who drink in adolescence tend to do worse at school and are more likely to become alcoholic adults. Conversely, many parents believe a gentle introduction to alcohol breeds sensible use later.
Personally, I just think it’s not worth the risk so opt for non-alcoholic drinks over the festive period.
