ALTHOUGH all the fuss about the President’s Club and its sleazy goings-on has largely died down, its principles continue to reverberate.
No-one likes the idea of young women being groped and humiliated by a room full of men, made worse by their moneyed status and the long history of the event.
Plainly, the sexual revolution and equality of the sexes passed by the organisers and many of the participants and, although it’s not the most worrying element of today’s society, it does reveal one of the most insidious.
This lack of respect for women generally is not acceptable and it’s also reflected in using pretty girls promotionally in many other areas of life – like darts’ tournaments.
Men would insist on being valued for what they can do, not how they look. So – and I can’t believe I’m writing this in 2018 – why not women? It’s just not the right message.
