BOLTON consultant Dr Kevin Jones knows that laughter is the best medicine.

He has spent 30 years proving this on the after-dinner speakers’ circuit and his one-man shows, when he’s not busy in his “proper job” at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Now, the good doctor is off to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the first time with a show darkly entitled “Telling the Wrong Man He Had Cancer and Other Hilarious Stories.”

He says he is “extremely excited” and we wish him well. He brings humour to an often difficult subject and life could do with more like him.

He’s also well able to handle hecklers and online trolls, as he proved brilliantly to one abusive poster on the Bolton News’ website.

“Thank you for your insightful review. Please make an appointment to see me in the hospital as soon as you can. I realise life is hard for you when you are unemployed and single with learning difficulties and low self-esteem but I can help.”

That’s the way, doc!
