THE town will be a poorer place for the closure of two buildings.
The Astley Bridge Theatre Church, in Seymour Road, and the Harvey Street Methodist Church, in Halliwell, are being sold by the Bolton Methodist Church Circuit.
They’ve long brought not only congregations but also communities together with their broad appeal. The theatre church in particular has been used by several amateur dramatic and operatic societies including youth theatres.
It’s sad to see them go and I really hope the groups affected find somewhere else to use. They have proved a rich and valuable part of local history and it’s sad to see them go.
