THE wonderful furore over the journalist who felt she was “cursed” by her beauty rumbles on its entertaining way. Samantha Brick wrote an article in a national newspaper basically explaining how men fell at her feet, showering her with gifts because she was drop-dead gorgeous. Women, meanwhile, hated her for her looks.
It caused a storm of criticism (as it was meant to) and some very funny spoof articles and blogs. Mrs Brick followed up by claiming that the huge outcry online, on Twitter and Facebook, simply justified her comments. Actually, it shows two things: 1. How easy it is to prey on both men’s and women’s insecurities about their looks and 2. She should have gone to Specsavers.
