HAVING seen the effort Bolton Council has been making to attract shoppers in the last few weeks, it’s a shame it is having a negative response.
I know this because the majority of the shoppers are heading towards Manchester. I work at the local railway station and having seen the numbers increase 10-fold.
It’s nothing to do with parking. The solution is how to avoid traffic gridlock in and around the town centre.
We have the market, the college and the university, not forgetting the surrounding supermarkets, all leading into the town centre and all traffic coming to a standstill.
I’m not sure if any councillors have observed this chaos. Even the emergency services have difficulty weaving in and out through the standstill of motorcades.
