CHRISTOPHER Amos commented in a rather negative letter (April 10) about the recent announcement that extra trains were being promised for Bolton.
It came across as childish name-calling, rather than trying to work with others, as we are doing, to find positive solutions to solve our local transport problems.
The NW English Democrats produced our radical “ELECTRICcity” proposals for Greater Manchester around three years ago, taking into account the financially changed world we now live in.
Here in Bolton we have suffered a drought in rail investment. That is why we developed “ELECTRICcity”, which would public funding from environmentally unfriendly air travel to environmentally friendly rail/tram and all-electric buses.
Perhaps Mr Amos, instead of being negative towards those positively working towards solving Bolton's rail problems, should be holding to account those who neglected to invest properly in it, ie the last Labour government when it was in power.
A lot is happening behind the scenes, so we all need to continue working together to improve our local rail network.
