I APPLAUD The Bolton News for it’s tenacity in pursuing the right to publish the names of the two local councillors who failed to pay their council tax within the timescale imposed on the rest of Bolton’s citizens.
Might I suggest that the judge’s decision in favour of anonymity due to distress it could cause them and that publicity would infringe their human rights, is a classic example of why “the law is still an ass.” If the councillors concerned do not volunteer the information, it poses the question: “Are they fit for the job?”
