WHILE it’s important to take a commonsense approach to e-cigarettes I surely can’t be the only person who sees them as an excellent advance forward.

The first e-cig TV adverts are due to hit our TV screens next month and  there  are likely to be many welcoming them.

Currently, more than two million Britons regularly use e-cigarettes and, although we don’t know the long-term health effects of them, anything that helps people quit or cut down on smoking has got to be a good thing.

The health of both individuals and our under-pressure NHS is likely to receive a positive boost from their widespread use by smokers.
