WHAT on earth is the Department for Education doing axing rounders from the GCSE curriculum?
It has removed one of Bolton and Bury’s favourite female sports from the list of activities on which pupils can be judged in the exam. Now, governing body Rounders England is deeply concerned this could discriminate against girls when there are already concerns about them doing any sporting activities.
It’s perhaps just as well that rounders is alive and well and thriving in local leagues where competition for females of all ages is a popular all-year-round activity. Come and take a look for yourselves, DfE.
