DAILY unwanted calls about solar panels, personal injuries and, just recently, stairlifts drive most of us mad.
We know there is a legitimate industry of cold calling out there and, provided it’s carried out responsibly, it doesn’t have to be intrusive.
However, the Bolton personal injury company that phoned a single household 470 times over-stepped the mark. It has now been fined £80,000 by the privacy watchdog for making nuisance calls and this has got to be a positive thing, both for poor beleaguered householders and for the industry.
Constant cold calling needs monitoring. Most of all, it needs common sense.
