USING a famous Hollywood tough guy in a bakery advert was genius.
The great bonus of Sylvester Stallone appearing in the Warburtons’ advert is that it also publicises Bolton.
It’s a cleverly constructed film, titled The Deliverers, in which Stallone phones up Jonathan Warburton to pitch a movie idea in which he stars as one of the firm’s delivery drivers.
He’s then shown waking up in Blackrod at 3.30am in his I Love BLTN t-shirt to get to his job. It’s all tackled like an action film, with the movie veteran wearing a black and gold military outfit bearing the famous bread company’s logo.
They even recreate the legendary Rocky scene where he runs up a steep flight of steps – in this case Bolton Town Hall – with a large crowd of supporters.
Never mind what it does for Warbies and Bolton, we’ll never look at bakery deliverymen the same again.
