THE Wigan Road, Deane, branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland is to shut its doors for good.

Bosses blame a drop in usage and changes in the way customers bank, many preferring online and mobile banking. It’s a pity as this penalises older people who may prefer traditional methods of banking and don’t want to bank online.

Banks used to be all about personal service and care, but today’s trends seem more impersonal. The only good news is that RBS customers will soon be able to do their banking at the local post office – if they can find one.
