PEOPLE leaving the armed forces are currently left with few avenues of help.
So the idea by deputy Mayor, Cllr Martin Donaghy to create a local centre to help them sounds sensible and compassionate. Plans have been submitted to build this centre inside the former Sweetens bookshop in Deansgate in the town centre, and let’s hope it succeeds.
His vision is for a space where both serving and retired armed forces’ members can meet together and receive information, help and support in housing, employment and health.
It seems a small way to say “thank you” for their dedication and service.
