WELL done to the Harwood residents who put up signs urging local people not to be “Too Posh To Pick Up Poo.”

Their remarks are addressed to owners who don’t pick up their dog’s mess but leave it to become a blight on local areas popular for dog-walking.

Ward Councillor Mudasir Dean says this fouling is “a massive issue in the area” and urges people who spot offenders to contact him with a description of dogs and owners.

Most dog owners are responsible people who care about their local areas and want to keep rural spots pleasant so they pick up and dispose of their dog’s messes.

Unfortunately, there are always the selfish few who think the rules don’t apply to them. Let’s hope this latest initiative makes a difference here, and elsewhere, and that no-one is either too posh or too thick to pick up their own dog’s poo.
