WHILE it’s a great idea for one Welsh primary school to take all its teacher training days together to give parents a cheap holiday week the plan has flaws.

The school is using the trick to avoid strict new rules preventing parents from taking children on term-time holidays.

Parents have long suffered from holiday companies hiking up prices during Summer school breaks and this offers a nice bonus.

However, tour operators are sharp and although it may work as a one-off, it’s unlikely they’ll do nothing.

There’s far too much at stake financially for them to simply watch and applaud.
