BOLTONIANS know about undiagnosed heart conditions and the importance of defibrillators ever since the on-pitch collapse of Wanderers’ player Fabrice Muamba.
This support for more of the life-saving machines in public places was highlighted once more when 47 year-old Davinia Tavener died suddenly from a heart condition on a Ryanair flight.
A petition by local man David Makinson collected nearly 30,000 signatures calling on airlines for action. Now Ryanair is introducing defibrillators on all its aircraft from November.
This is excellent news. It’s a tribute to Mr Makinson’s hard work and may provide some small solace for Mrs Tavener’s family.
