SLAPSTICK: Frank Spencer from a more innocent time
THE suggestion that the original stars of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em may be getting ready for a comeback is very welcome.
This gently funny slapstick series featuring disaster-prone Frank Spencer and his patient wife Betty delighted audiences in the ‘70s.
While I know this was a much more innocent time, I’m sure there’s a place for Frank (Michael Crawford) and Betty (Michelle Dotrice) in 2015.
My only concern is the physical nature of many of the original stunts involved for Michael, now 73.
But, like Mr Bean, there’s definitely an audience for a naïve couple in our sophisticated world.
