A YEAR after TV presenter Claudia Winkelman’s eight year-old daughter Matilda suffered severe burns when her Halloween costume caught fire there are still safety questions about fancy dress outfits.
Last year, 21 children were admitted to hospital after their clothing either ignited or melted, with parents – including Claudia – demanding tough new safety laws on all fancy dress.
We’re close to Halloween but it’s always the party season and children just love to dress up. Parents needs to really make their voices heard here
if they are to protect their children from an industry that doesn’t appear to be bothered about safety.
