BY now, the millions of regular viewers of the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing sound pretty knowledgeable.
“Sound” being the operative word, of course, because most of us don’t really know a Fleckerl from a Fandango. Consistent exposure to the comments of judges like expert Len Goodman encourage us to believe we know what we’re talking about.
We certainly know what we like, and don’t like, as the favourites for the glitterball trophy plainly emerge. Much as I admire him as a radio journalist, Jeremy Vine is no dancer and lovely TV weather presenter Carol Kirkwood hasn’t a hope, either.
Current favourites include reality star Peter Andre, TV presenter Katie Derham and actresses Kellie Bright, Helen George and our own Georgia May Foote.
Clearly ahead of the pack, though, is the Wanted’s Jay McGuinness who is totally mesmerising. Week by week, you could believe HE was the professional, he’s so good yet he’s still nervous and continues to look perplexed. Think that’s where the smart money is now, though.
