OF COURSE the latest adaptation of classic horror story Jekyll and Hyde was always going to be scary.
Whatever time the re-worked tale about the grandson of the original split personality was aired, it was never going to be suitable for children and parents should have realised this.
Scheduling it for 6.30pm on a Sunday meant ITV took a calculated risk on general public acceptance of horror around Halloween.
In the event, it was very scary indeed with murder, mayhem and monsters. Hundreds complained to ITV and regulators OFCOM. So it’s probably going to be a really big hit now.
