IT’S no real surprise that hit documentary series Scrappers has won a TV award.

The programme about life in the Bolton scrapyard run by Terry and Lyndsay Walker has proved a hit with audiences around the country.

They’ve warmed to the down-to-earth couple and their team and the gritty way they simply deal with life’s problems.

Now it’s taken the Best Factual Series’ award in the Royal Television Society Awards North West 2015, and it’s thoroughly deserved.

There’s nothing pretentious here – just a collection of rich characters earning a crust – but it reflects well on Bolton and daily life here.
