WHAT on earth is pub chain Wetherspoons thinking of scrapping the traditional Sunday roast dinner from its menu?
The chain is dropping this iconic item to focus on a large all-day menu based around burgers, burritos and pub classics and its themed nights like Curry Club and Mexican Mondays.
It’s already removed its “Sunday Club” roast dinner section from its website, quite rightly causing outrage on the internet with many taking to social media to vent their fury.
Sunday roast is as British as red post-boxes and Buckingham Palace. It’s an accepted institution, a part of cultures and religions, and also part of the social fabric of many families.
While we are always bemoaning parents and children not eating together, here is one time when everyone gets together for a much-loved meal. This is now bad news for British farmers, and bad news for families. Please don’t do it, Wetherspoons.
