IT’S brilliant to see 19-year-old Abigail Murphy trying to rally local residents around Harwood and Bradshaw to improve the area.
The University of Bolton student wants to apply for grants for her local area and is leading a new group, the Harwood committee, to get people of all ages actively involved in change.
She wants the youth club open more nights to tackle anti-social behaviour and to bring old and young together. She has already made successful funding bids for her area.
The list of local improvements drawn up by the committee include a Men in Sheds project, reliable public transport, more equipment for the local park and more dog waste bins and improvements to roads and pavements.
Seeing someone so young taking a leading role, being prepared to commit herself to action, is not only very heartening but a great example to all ages. Abigail deserves to succeed.
