CONGRATULATIONS to Westhoughton actress Ruth Madeley for her remarkable achievement being nominated for a BAFTA.
She’s been shortlisted in the Best Actress category for factual BBC drama Don’t Take My Baby, telling the story of a disabled couple’s fight to keep their newborn child.
Ruth was born with spina bifida and scoliosis, which makes walking difficult, but the former Mount St Joseph’s School pupil’s life was transformed when charity Whizz-Kidz gave her a new wheelchair.
She has plainly had to overcome many barriers in life but, fortunately, her talent shines its way through. Good luck, Ruth – let’s hope you win!
