IT’S a safe bet that few of those shopping in The Market Place in Bolton last Thursday really appreciated who the guitarist entertaining them there was

Robin Hill, who lives in Bolton, is one of the world’s most famous classical guitarists with a musical career spanning more than 40 years.

He has played not only with some of the most well-known international orchestras but also with legendary rock groups Deep Purple and Jethro Tull.

Early in his career, he provided backing for American singer Frankie Laine when he played at Farnworth’s Blighty’s nightclub. He’s recorded at George Harrisons house, and was a backing musician for Russell Watson and Luciano Pavarotti.

He’s been a prolific composer as well as producing books and definitive works on guitar techniques and, as shoppers could witness, still has a wonderful passion for music and an enduring talent that still delights. Thanks for sharing it, Robin.
