THE latest technology in tights sounds like something to be welcomed by females everywhere.

A new London-based company, prosaically called Heist, promises tights that don’t sag, snag, wrinkle or fight back when you’re trying to get them on. A more elasticated waistband using many more fibres than usual is, apparently, the reason. The bad news is that they cost around £22 a pair.

Frankly, they could be worth it. There is nothing more ungainly and less sexy than trying to battle your way into a resistant pair of tights that holds your ankles hostage and refuses to budge above knee-height.
