THIS is the time of year when many families have imminent holidays abroad.
Travel companies try to make plane travel an enjoyable part of these trips but what is hard to plan for is the danger posed by other travellers.
The latest air rage incident involved a pilot being attacked by a woman passenger travelling from Manchester Airport to Paphos in Cyprus. When crew decided she was in no state to fly, she launched a foul-mouthed tirade and then committed the assault.
She managed to escape a prison sentence but the pilot concerned has warned violence against air crews is increasing.
Unfortunately, only severe penalties – like jail and long-term air travel bans – are likely to make any difference to those taking drugs or alcohol to create potentially dangerous situations.
Some selfish individuals believe they have the right to behave as they please. But the law must show they do not.
