THE news that funerals at Bolton’s Overdale chapels are to be streamed live has prompted mixed reactions.
Bolton Council intend to use strict guidelines and this service will not be compulsory but a decision for families to make.
There’s no denying that there’s a demand for this.
People who live away or abroad or cannot get to a service of someone they care about for health or other reasons want to witness funeral services.
Concerns seem to be that this system could be intrusive or that it might stop possible mourners from attending because they can see it online.
Personally, I think it’s an excellent idea.
While we often want to pay our respects to an individual who has passed away, it’s not always possible to attend a funeral or even get time off work.
Live streaming offers a chance to feel you are saying goodbye in your own way.
