IF ever a group of people deserved an award it is the staff at the Royal Bolton Hospital’s breast unit.
They were part of the winning team at the Society of Radiographers’ annual awards for their work in developing Word of Mouth Mammogram e-Network, WoMMeN.
This is an online support facility that allows women to discuss breast screening and health with healthcare professionals and each other. The team also created a Facebook group.
Anyone who has had breast cancer knows just how important it is to be able to discuss the illness and treatment with people who really understand.
The award is also a small reminder of just what we have in Bolton. The breast unit at RBH is a remarkable place of expertise and caring. Many women – and men – can easily attest to this as it deals with hundreds of patients each week.
It deserves all the accolades going.
