SURELY the time has come for proper rules and legislation surrounding the sale and operation of drones?
On a regular basis, there are reports by aircraft of near-misses and even cases where a drone has hit a passenger plane.
We really are not far away from a drone causing a plane to crash, with subsequent loss of life.
As more people buy them this Christmas, we urgently need compulsory registration of all commercial and civilian drones.
At the moment, anyone can buy one and take it out flying as long as it weighs less than 20kg. Think of your plane luggage allowance to get an idea of how heavy this is.
Flying it in your back garden is fine but there are potential problems flying in a park as you have to be 50 metres away from other people.
Flying it in busy areas and on flightpaths is sheer lunacy.
