ANOTHER dose of feelgood factor was on offer in comedian Michael McIntyre’s new TV series which began last weekend.
Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on BBC 1 was a happy mix of sharp repartee, observational humour and entertainment. He has a section where a celebrity hands over his or her phone, allowing Michael to create a message and hit Send to All, with suitably funny reactions.
Tapping into our social media obsession, he focused on posts by a member of the audience – in this case, a young man whose grandad replicated his poses with hilarious results. The most affecting part was the Unexpected Star of the Show slot when an unsus-pecting individual realises a secret ambition. On Saturday, fireman Andy – who thought he was delivering a training course next door – found himself on stage — his singing performance was stunning. and very touching. Michael’s humour is generally without bad language — in itself heartwarming.
