ALTHOUGH it seems a shame that primary school pupils don’t read children’s classics as much there are some consolations.
The 70 books going to 70 primary schools around the country to mark the Duchess of Cornwall’s 70th birthday don’t contain a single Enid Blyton or Roald Dahl book.
Instead, there’s Harry Potter and books by David Walliams and even Bake Off queen Nadiya Hussain. Surely, though, the most important thing is that youngsters today, in spite of all the pulls of technology, ARE still reading books – and loving them. That seems like good news for the future of all books.
