I SUPPOSE it’s something we should have spotted before but now we’re being advised against using store make-up testers.
A microbiologist warns that using the same lipstick as anyone else offers a risk of herpes and salmonella through tiny droplets of other people’s saliva. A similar problem applies to shared mascara wands which can cause “pink eye”.
Dr Amreen Bashir, of Aston University, says that, while we’d never consider sharing a toothbrush with a stranger, we think nothing of sharing make-up testers. Yuk! Not any more. I’ll stick with staple favourites and ban dangerous “experimenting” from now on.
