I WON’T be the only person appalled that Topshop has succumbed to pressure from the transgender lobby to make its changing rooms gender neutral.

While it’s easy to acknowledge that there are possibly embarrassing circumstances for individuals forced to use the men’s changing rooms, I’m afraid this response from Topshop is over the top and won’t please many more people.

The situation is not too bad if the changing rooms involve individual cubicles with proper doors that allow anyone to change unseen by others. The real problem comes with communal changing rooms where it’s all in together.

This is an over-reaction and unnecessary and many parents will not like the idea of their teenage daughters stripping down to their underwear here. I’m not keen on doing that myself.

I’m afraid I won’t be visiting Topshop on this basis and I suspect there will be many others taking the same approach.
