BOLTON has a strong presence in the nominations for the latest BAFTA awards.

Sian Gibson, from Peter Kay’s hit series Car Share, has been nominated for female performance in a comedy programme and actress Maxine Peake – also from the town – has been nominated in the mini-series category for the ground-breaking three-part series Three Girls about the Rochdale victims of grooming and sexual abuse.

We have every right to be proud of both of these quite different performers. They share their talent and, by association, lift the profile of our town to a much wider audience. Good luck to them both.
