ARE your youngsters into making loom bands?
The brightly-coloured bracelets have created a trend that’s swept the country, with children using clever skills and imagination to make beautiful bands as gifts or just to wear themselves.
It’s a positive trend but there are downsides. Staff at Sacred Heart RC Primary School in Westhoughton had to ask pupils to leave their loom bands at home to keep safe the animals in the school’s new outdoor learning area. And Blackrod Primary School also asked its pupils to keep the bands out of the classroom to stop children being distracted.
While creativity definitely needs encouraging, like all current trends the reality is that school is not really the best place for them.
